As the spring season draws to a close, I am taking a moment to look back on the inaugural months of our short film Snow Colored Ashes. This spring marked the film's official entry into the global festival circuit, providing our first opportunities to share this story with audiences, fellow creators, and industry professionals. It has been a season of growth and discovery, defined by the debut of a work that sits at the intersection of traditional human-led storytelling and generative AI.

Snow Colored Ashes' World Premiere at the Chicago AI Film Festival
The journey began on April 18, 2026, when Snow Colored Ashes had its world premiere at the Chicago AI Film Festival hosted at the University of Chicago's Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts. This event was the film's first public screening, and being selected as a finalist amongst 12 other original AI works was an encouraging start! We recently published a recap video on our YouTube channel that highlights my experience at the festival. This premiere was not just a screening, but an introduction to the kind of personal narratives I intend to write and bring to life with the help of modern technological tools.
International Recognition at the Inaugural AI Movie Awards
Following its Chicago debut, Snow Colored Ashes continued its festival run at the international level with its selection for the inaugural AI Movie Awards (AIMA) in Magaluf, Spain. Hosted at Meliá Calviá Beach on April 24, 2026, the AIMA provided a unique opportunity for our film to be screened for a jury of industry professionals, including Tommy Harper (Mission Impossible, Star Wars), Mike Day (Palma Pictures), and Fab Morvan (Milli Vanilli).
Being included in a festival that highlights the future of cinema in the age of artificial intelligence allowed me to gain insights into how the film resonates across borders and different cultural perspectives on technology. It was an insightful experience to have Snow Colored Ashes selected alongside other experimental and narrative works that are currently pushing the boundaries of what is possible in digital cinema.

What is Next for Snow Colored Ashes in the Summer and Beyond
While the spring season provided a strong foundation for Snow Colored Ashes, the film’s journey is far from over. We are currently preparing for the next phase of the film festival circuit, and I look forward to sharing news about upcoming regional premieres, merchandise, and short stories as summer begins.
We are particularly eager to announce that Snow Colored Ashes will be having its Canadian premiere at an official Canadian Screen Awards–Qualifying Festival later this year. This will be the first "non-AI-specific" film festival to select it! Entering a broader cinematic arena represents the next logical step in our mission to integrate hybrid filmmaking into the wider industry landscape. I am grateful to the programmers and audiences who have engaged with Snow Colored Ashes thus far, and I look forward to continuing these conversations in the months ahead as we bring this story to new stages.
